What types of vehicles qualify for lemon law protection?

Ohio has a lemon law statute that protects new cars that have manufacturing defects. The law defines any 'motor vehicle' as "any passenger car or noncommercial motor vehicle or those parts of any motor home that are not part of the permanently installed facilities for cold storage, cooking and consuming of food, and for sleeping but does not mean any mobile home or recreational vehicle, or any manufactured home."

Sometimes the best way to read a statute is to find out what is not included. What is NOT included are: (1) mobile homes; (2) recreational vehicles; (3) manufactured homes; (4) motor home parts that are not part of the permanently installed facilities for cold storage, cooking and consuming food and for sleeping. That means if you have a vehicle with a motor, most everything else is covered!

As always, I would suggest speaking to an attorney before taking any actions.
